Some things you don't see everyday. Here is one of them.
Another thing you don't see everyday is the Force delivering a 5-0 shutout -- a virtual drubbing that included Kate coming out of the net!!! Rhea must have jumped up and down and demanded to be put in the pipes (or is it in between the pipes?). Or may be it was the fact that the Force kept the ball in the TSC end for most of the game.
Regular readers of the blog, like Sawyer's Dad, will note that we have been in these kind of games before and that this blog has documented those 1 sided affairs. But, for the most part, we have been on the losing end. This, though, is the miracle year -- 2012 -- when losses keep their distance from the Force. And we keep the ball in the other team's end not the other way round.

The first 10 minutes, in fact, were played in the spectator side TSC corner as Kyra and Sophie applied great pressure. Nothing came of this pressure, though, as the Force struggled to see through bigger opponents and get the ball to the front of the net. It took one of Coach Cookie's Socratic questions -- "Can we swing the ball around girls?" -- to prompt the girls to meditate, then visualize, then finally reverse the field. Right defender Sophie sent the ball to Rhea (who has been dazzling) at defensive mid who tipped it to Jill at left defense who, in turn, gave a perfect pass to striker extraordinaire Sawyer. Sawyer blasted a great shot -- which looked to be left footed but my "spotter" (Annabelle's Dad) wasn't paying close enough attention to confirm -- that gave the Force a 1-0 lead.
This opened the gates. The girls continued their great ball possession and passing of the last five games or so, ignored the bigger size of TSC, and didn't slow down -- as has been the case -- to play at the speed of the opponent. They thoroughly dominated the game.
Goal 2 came off a powerful strike from Annabelle (spotter caught that one) that bounced in front to an always digging Kyra who banged it in for her second goal in as many games. Goal 3 came off Lauren's powerful foot after a neat pass from "MSH" (Christina).
Goal 4 deserves its own paragraph. A corner kick found its way to center defender Rhea stationed at the top of the 18 (love soccer talk). She faked as if to pass it back out of traffic before calmly but quickly dragging the ball back to face the net. In one motion she left a Comet defender looking upfield and banged the ball into the right corner.
"MSH" added a goal to her team leading total to finish things out. After taking a nice pass from Sawyer Christina lofted one over the keeper's head. 5-0
